The late Club.Broke.Status member and king Alexi De Rochambeau passed away in the beginning of 2011, and although I never got the pleasure of knowing him, it’s evident that he left a heavy impact.  Of the countless words I’ve read from many others about who Alexi was a person, they all beckon the same.

Waking up early Thursday morning in Central Massachusetts, after a memorable special Wednesday edition GTG at the Boulder Cafe, in which international legend and sex symbol Paul McGrath of F6squared fame arrived early for some pre holiday spirits and words with friends (not the game). We found ourselves welcomed by cool but reasonable travel weather. A bit cloudy, a touch damp by the nights rain, but being New England, we counted ourselves content.

Meeting mere walking distance from the prior evenings festivities. We departed Fitchburg, Ma in our two faithful and trusty MKIV long haulers. Before long (maybe about 1/8 mile) we had already stopped. Apparently JazzBlue 20th’s are not accustomed to tucking 235/40r18 tires in static form, as lowmaster Josh Petith’s travel tires disagreed with the wheel wells at the departure of the adventure. Not to fear, a little muscle and some pry tools had made clearance enough to the journey to continue, self clearancing themselves slowly but surely over the course of a few miles.

Broke Status

Other than the occasional rest stop we made our way briskly towards Fredricksburg, VA. Despite a few showers and quite literal bumps along the way, the first leg of the journey was somewhat uneventful, in a good way. I will say I got a bit of a chuckle nearing the end of our journey.
