So in Novermber 2008, I bought this Toyota, knowing it needed a headgasket.
So it’s just a little 1.6 can’t be no biggie. I got it running probably sometime second semester just cause school owns me with time and well we all know how its not always the funnest thing working on your own car cause ain’t no money coming from it. But anywho. Got the head resurfaced and did a whole valve grind job. Needless to say when i got it running it was a slow ass car. Well what do you expect its a 1.6. I drove it everywhere though. I hadn’t had another car to drive around since my kia. So school ends in April and in May I decide to drive down to Atlanta one Friday night to stay over some friends house. I’m on my way and it’s about midnight and I’m on the highway cruising about an hour and a half away from my place, and the oil light turns on, clank clank clank. I shut the thing off as soon as i could and pulled over. I’m like what the frick! Check the oil, It’s still good?? I try to roll start it since it wasn’t starting at all and the tires squeal. The 23 window deluxe pressed bumper bus. The holy grail of the bus world. It’s not often that you come across one. These discoveries happen even less in New England where the elements take their toll on these prized metal machines, but c.b.s. member Scott Bridge was lucky enough to spot one of these mythical beasts a couple of years back while cutting down a Christmas tree.
This is the first installment of many for the motor work to be done. As mentioned in Episode 1, I touched briefly on plans for more power for 2010. Over the past couple weeks, I finally received all of the parts for my MKIV intake manifold conversion.
